Hmm, that seems to be saying that unless someone is already wise, they can't be advised.
I guess I see how that works in real life. If you have a dim-watt bulb, complex reasoning is going to be lost on him/her. But if you can't get good counsel without already being wise, it seems like a losing proposition....
You're right of course--but thinking about it got me thinking, how **do** people wise up? And that got me thinking that maybe advisers start off giving not wise advice but simple advice...and then, as the person gets more experienced, etc., they can move on to more complex advice, and the person will have grown enough to understand it.
Of course, that's predicated on having wise advisors from the word go.
So how does the guy get the wise councillors? He's got to be able to recognize wisdom when he sees it, even then.
Even if his dying father said, "I have asked Faithful Johannes to advise and counsel you as if you were myself," it takes wisdom to think that his father knew something about this prince business and keep Faithful Johannes on.
In which case, rather than wise counsel, he simply needs to jump around alot, solve highly improbably puzzles, and defeat foes with acrobatic scimitar-action, while also turning back time.

I like my version better than Niccolo's.
