crossroads
Jan. 18th, 2015 07:37 pmAh, crossroads, those dangerous and liminal places.
I had read about the belief that crossroads are, for instance, good places to bury suicides on the grounds that the multiple roads would divide up the evil and send it in different directions. Or possibly just confuse it about which route to take.
Only recently ran across the observation -- obvious only in hind-sight -- that crossroads are terrible places because, before GPS or even maps or reliable signs, the wrong choice could easily send you hundreds of miles out of your way, all of which had to be redone on foot or, at best, horseback. A dangerous place indeed!
Even if you don't find a stone warning you that each route has its perils.
Good place for a ghost.
