Sometimes the story comes from the title.

Sometimes the title arrives very early, while still outlining.

And sometimes when it does, you have to wonder why the muse decided on that form of amusement.  For her, that is, not for the writer.

"When the Witch Sings" is coming into shape.  It's SF.  A mysterious mass disappearance on a space station.  It's an idiom in the era for a disaster, normally a convergence of factors.

I suspect the title isn't going to stand.  But there it sits, for now.  Not moving, and not even having any rivals.

I really like that pairing actually--having the title be an idiom in the culture ties it more closely to the story.
