My venture:

You would think that decades aboard the station would have inured her. That nothing would make her uneasily contemplate how she lived aboard a construction of metal and silicon, with no planet that had anything resembling land even in the same star system.

Then, she had not remembered for years.

Prepping for bad times usually consisted of stockpiling canned goods and toilet paper. All well and good as far as it went, which was two or three months in most cases. We had a different idea, land. Room for gardening, trees for firewood, forest for hunting and foraging. When the canned goods ran out we still had resources.

Then we had to defend them.

I ran a little over. Does that disqualify?
