curse and worse

So, there are actually a few ways to become a shapeshifter.

One involves a skin or feather cloak or the like in a good old selkie/swan-maiden/etc style.  One involves making a deal with a being -- you would be better off not making a deal with.  And one involves being cursed.

Imagining the girls talking along and one of them tranquilly observes that only the third is not affected by your personality.  (The skins/cloaks/etc. do not attract you or work for your if you're not the right type.)

Whereupon the muse started to remind me that the heroine would know of stories where curses would be ironically appropriate.  And bring it up.  And certainly a curse doesn't have to not fit the character. . . .

sigh.

The heroine's learning a lot.  It can be a task to juggle.

Not the same as shapeshifting, but this did remind me of something, with which I agree at least partially. On transformation...

Transformation into a centaur as punishment? Where do I go to misbehave and how?
