My effort:
You didn't expect such an ending to be quiet. Silent even. You expected it to be earsplitting, resounding, deafening, as would fit the scale of the event, the shattering ending of it.
Indeed, she was left wondering what, if anything, had happened. Though the beginning had made no noise, either.
