This week's prompt is:
door
Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.
My effort (in fact, two of them):
The woman, wrapped in her shawl of fading red, with her impossibly broad mouth and nose, sat and hummed in the hollow. Behind her, among the roots of the oak, sat a door painted a brilliant shade of red. To either side, little round windows reflected the scene before them.
The boy screamed behind him. He flinched: triumph or agony or hatred? Or in the boy's state of mind, could they even be told apart?
A door stood ahead, metallic, with a heavy lock. He could hope that escape lay beyond it.
He forced himself to walk briskly as before. If it dashed his hopes, he had to go onward.
