So we have these stained glass windows.

Which will be significant.  The images on them are magically induced, and later, when they deduce what they show, will prove of enormous use as clues.

I even outlined the scene where they find it all out.

And I didn't go back and put in what the windows showed.

Ah, mental revision.  You forget what you put in the first place because it obviously changed with the rest.

Not to mention that I can't get too obvious, or they will have to have realized it much earlier.

Maybe I'll skip this part and write it when I've written that scene, so I know what is needed.
