My effort:
"Come and eat," said a woman, taller than Halley, all pink and golden like a sunrise, both her coloring and her clothing. She gestured at the table, set with pottery dishes and plentiful food. "It will grow cold, and then the brownies will sulk."
"Only natural for the brownies to sulk," said one man, looking almost like a sphere with arms and legs and a head, and dressed in armor, but he turned his steps toward the table.
Wistful, Halley glanced over the dishes. She did not recognize many. Fairy food was not only dangerous to eat, but unfamiliar.
