arraying the characters

Randomly generating character traits and powers is one thing.
Then I look at the list and realize -- I still have to make some of them good guys, and some of them bad guys, and two different stripes of good guys. Neither of whom are so angelically good that "selfish" puts them in the bad guys.
And the traits have to be melded into a personality. Some of them are, to be sure, and I'm taking notes, but more are needed. And, of course, if I purge some I'm going to have to wrestle with whether it's still random.
I need to invent more jokes about correlations, I think.
