vignette challenge

This week's prompt is:
shut
Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.
My efforts:
As if he would not shut the college the instant anyone hinted they were throwing off the gold market like that. If only she could go outside. The chairs outside were still rimed with the night's frost.
Which was how she saw that the cloud, already uncommonly dark, moved oddly.
Rose-Lily stared at it. Aurelie got up, climbed out of the boat, and offered Rose-Lily a hand up. A path of yellow stone lead up to the shut door, but they did have to wait for their luggage.
"Go up, go up," said Hobert. "It's not like it will open for me."
And the grass shifted. It was sharper edged than before. Jon scowled. He wished they had a wall before them. A shut door would at least indicate which way to go. Here, with the thick clouds, he could only hope they were casting south, as they seemed to be.
