This week's prompt is:
gray
Anyone can join, with a 50-word vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term.
My efforts:
Lenore stuck to the gray path. Leon did not even look after the rabbit. Prudent of him. Paths were the best way to find ordinary humans. Even if --
Even if there were the grave danger that they would not believe about books, and portals generally. Lenore bit her lip.
Under the spell, it almost looked gray. Karl stepped forward, slowly. The boat did not lurch, much, as he walked. Then his sword arched up into the air, glowing more brightly. She looked away and so did not see the strike as he brought it down, or the blinding light.
Back inside a stone room, she thought. Same old gray rock, unadorned, uncovered, while the clerks and knights fussed over the things.
"She doesn't mind," said Scholasticus, heartily. "She'll let us study."
"And if she does," said Minette, "she has keys from the wizard. Everyone will know when she minds."
