Some powers make it more -- interesting than others. Particularly those inherently deleterious to those they are used on. A super-strong character can juggle boulders. A disease-causing one is shorter on options, particularly if his powers affect only humans. Milder ones include mental control or sapping someone's strength.
Much depends on whether they can evade it. If they are needed in the field. Or, worse, the field comes chasing after them -- and the less they are seen in the field, the more it is assumed that they can't fight, and so are easy prey.
Working with a world where powers are random can really make you appreciate why they aren't, usually.
