So the characters are standing around arguing about justice and the rule of law and vigilantes especially when its officers of the law who are breaking the law. . . .
They are not disputing over justice but over the prudence, the right judgment on what is to be done. Neither of them is urging injustice or, for that matter, mercy. They are disputing over what is the best way to maximize justice, considering all sorts of issues.
(Hmm, the pro-vigilante guy has yet to argue that the guilty go on committing injustices. Better put that in.)
Whereupon the muse make impish suggestions that there be three more, on temperance and courage and justice, and I slap it down to consider finishing this first. Especially since there's no guarantee that the muse will actually do the variations on the theme, which requires plots to match.
