choosing the fantastic saint
Dec. 12th, 2022 11:22 pmIt's a bit fun choosing saints in a high fantasy setting.
I have an aversion to modern ones, of course, and even to medieval ones with well documented biographies, which is a bit odder.
Then there's the question of patronage. True, some work well. St. Michael the Archangel for those who fight. St. Cyprian and St. Anastasia Pharmakolytria against evil magic -- perhaps him for sorcery and her for wizardry?
But when there's a particular problem with necromancers, they might add another specifically against necromancers. Could invent one of course. Or add a patronage. Or perhaps go by St. Anthony as the patron saint of gravediggers and graveyards.
