So when you are rewriting a sorta Sleeping Beauty tale, and the prince arrives and finds her --
He's not an idiot. He listened in history class, at least enough. He knows a lot of sleeping princess tales and knows that there are several ways this could happen, and each needs a different way to be undone. (Fewer than there are in fairy tales overall, but the world needed some unity.)
And only when I start to write do I remember that he's falling in love at first sight with her beauty. While knowing it's insanity and that anyway, it's his duty to concern himself with waking her up. Ah, the juggling of simultaneous desires. . . .
