tidbits cross time

The Germans looted Belgian factories during the WWI occupation, melting down machinery or shipping it back to Germany.

The founding myth of Carthage, of Dido fleeing Pygmalion of Tyre, has a historical note in that Pygmalion actually existed.

During the Battle of Wilderness, some of his troops told General Lee they were not obeying his order to charge until he withdrew to a safer location.
