Rapunzel by Alix Berenzy

Faithful retelling of the Brothers Grimm tale. Pictures are all good. Some are quite gorgeous.

Cendrillon: A Caribbean Cinderella by Robert D. San Souci
An interesting retelling of a French Creole tale. Retold, in fact, from the point of view of the godmother, who is a washerwoman who has a magic wand, but a magic wand with serious limitations on its ability.

Pretty faithful to the tale type. There's only one ball, but it's far from the only one of this type for which that's true.

The Golden Sandal: A Middle Eastern Cinderella Story by Rebecca Hickox Ayres
An interesting variant on the persecuted heroine.

Has an aspect I've never seen in an European tale, though I've read it in Chinese ones -- the hero of the tale does not see the heroine at the festivities, he only finds her shoe after and is taken by it. Though his mother did see her (at an all female event) and was much taken by her.

And she's helped by a fish.
