Puss in Boots and Other Cat Tales From Around the World by Heidi Anne Heiner
All the fairy tale cats you could desire. . . .
Sections of cat type tales, followed some tales of witches and cats, fairy tales that have cats incidentally (instead of typical for the type), fables, and nursery rhyme.
The first section is the Puss-In-Boots tales, which are not all cats. We have jackals, foxes, lions, and gazelles. Whittington's Cat, how it can't be remotely historical, and variants more fairy tale like than legendary. The Cat Bride, the Bremen Town Musicians, the Kind and Unkind Girls (a small selection, since most don't have cats), the Magic Ring (which I don't personally like because you have the pricness who hates the hero and somehow they (often) ended up married happily), and more. the type "The king of cats is dead" doesn't get its own section but still has quite a number. Interesting to see variants featuring cats.
